Two Royal Malaysian Air Force officers ejected safely before their F/A-18D Hornet crashed at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport (Kuantan Air Base) late Thursday (Aug 21).
Air Force chief General Datuk Seri Muhamad Norazlan Aris said pilot Major Mohamad Azhar Alang Kamarudin, 34, sustained back injuries and minor burns, while co-pilot Captain Mohamad Izzuddin Mohamad Salleh, 28, suffered only bruises.
He said all F/A-18D Hornet operations have been suspended, and an official board of inquiry has been set up to investigate the incident.
