The remarks were made during an interview. He is not the only Republican to target the H-1B visa policy. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick also called the H-1B scheme a "scam". The Trump administration has proposed a draft with changes in the H-1B visa programme. The changes are expected to eliminate the currently used lottery system and implement a wage-based allocation. If this draft becomes a law, it would hurt the Indians most, as they are the biggest beneficiaries of the programme.
