After months of rumours it has been confirmed Chris Evans is to join The One Show. The BBC Radio 2 presenter will replace host Adrian Chiles on Fridays.
Chris filled in on the series last year while Adrian was on holiday. He said he was delighted to be given a regular slot.
"I think what Adrian and Christine have done with the show is fantastic," said the 44-year-old.
"It has become a much-loved institution in a relatively short space of time and I am honoured to be able to be joining the team. For me, Fridays have always been a little bit special and I want to do my bit to welcome people to the weekend," he added.
In the 90s Chris was a firm favourite on TV, fronting Channel 4's TFI Fridays and Don't Forget Your Toothbrush.
Adrian's future on The One Show is now in some doubt. A BBC spokesperson said that his contract is "still being negotiated".
They added that they are "keen" for him to continue on the daily magazine programme as he is a "valued member" of the "team."
The new Friday format will see Chris and co-host Christine Bleakley presenting an hour-long programme with features and guest.
