The search for funds to grease the wheels of the “fundraising machine” that the Obama campaign offices have often been referred to as, sent Messina, who has basically been unemployed since leaving his post in the West Wing several weeks ago, criss crossing the nation, looking for support from some of the same groups that helped to elect Obama in 2008, with the advantage that Obama’s camp can now ask those who donated to then-Senator Hillary Clinton’s 2008 campaign to support him as the likely sole Democratic candidate heading into 2012.
