British Foreign Secretary William Hague visits pro democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi in Myanmar on Friday.
Western countries are cautiously renewing their ties with the civilian government in place since March, and Hague used the meeting to set out conditions for the easing of sanctions.
The main conditions were releasing political detainees, ending human rights abuses by the army, an effort to resolve ethnic conflicts and free and fair elections.
Hague also said his government supported dialogue between the Myanmar government and Suu Kyi.
