STORY:

Actress Shirley MacLaine has never been a shrinking violet in her career, playing cantankerous women in films like "Steel Magnolias" and "Terms of Endearment."

And it appears she is no shrinking violet in real life, too.

Speaking to Reuters at a screening for her latest film, dark comedy "Bernie," she commented on the death of iconic television mainstay Dick Clark.

"Well now I can walk past his house in Malibu and his dogs won't attack mine. That's one good thing," said MacLaine, next to a clearly uncomfortable Jack Black.

Clark worked in television and radio for over six decades, rising to fame hosting music variety show "American Bandstand" and "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" since 1974.

He died at age 82 Wednesday (April 18) at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California, after suffering a heart attack.
