North Korean leader Kim Jong-un named himself 'Marshal of North Korea' on Wednesday (July 18) according to state media.
Members of the military gathered at an indoor rally to mark the occasion.
Later, they moved outdoors where they gathered in a plaza to dance in honour of Kim Jong-un.
The latest move would cement Mr Kim's control over the army and complete his elevation following the death of his father Kim Jong-il, who was also given the name.
