More than half a million people have fled areas ravaged by severe floods in the Yangtze river valley in central and southern China. The military has been mobilised to help rescue efforts, and the disaster alert has been raised to the highest level. The heavy rains and flooding have already left 105 people dead and 65 missing with the downpours expecting to continue for several days.
